Ms Nomsa Skosana

Digital Humanities Researcher: IsiNdebele

Biography: 

Nomsa’s research interests include translation studies, terminology development, and the preservation of South African indigenous languages, with a focus on isiNdebele. Given that isiNdebele is an under-resourced language, she is dedicated to advancing its development through research and resource creation. Nomsa is especially interested in developing corpora and digital tools to support and enhance isiNdebele.

Qualifications:                                                                                             

  • Bachelor of Education in Further Education Training: General (IsiNdebele)
  • Bachelor of Arts Honours in African Language (IsiNdebele)

Work experience:

Nomsa has taught isiNdebele in the Further Education and Training phase and has been appointed as a national internal moderator for isiNdebele by the Department of Higher Education and Training. She has experience as an isiNdebele researcher and currently works as a digital humanities researcher with a special focus on isiNdebele.
